‘Nemesis’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix: What to Expect Next

The streets of Los Angeles are about to get even hotter. We’ve got some fantastic news for fans of Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole’s cat-and-mouse crime thriller: Netflix has officially renewed Nemesis for a second season!

Created by Power mastermind Courtney A. Kemp and co-creator Tani Marole, Nemesis debuted on Netflix on May 14th, 2026. The explosive 8-episode first season brought us a Heat-style rivalry between LAPD Detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law) and master thief Coltrane Wilder (Y’lan Noel), exploring the deep intersections of family, marriage, and morality.

It didn’t take long for Netflix to pull the trigger on a second season, and the creators couldn’t be happier, even if one of them did just sign a new overall deal to jump ship from Netflix to Apple TV+.

Showrunner, Creator, and Executive Producer Courtney A. Kemp said:

“I feel blessed to get a season two. We thank the fans…it’s because of them — there’s no other reason. It’s them showing up, them talking about it and their huge social media response…We are grateful to Netflix for recognizing the power of our audience and bringing us back for the fans.”

Co-Creator and Executive Producer Tani Marole promised that the ante would be upped going forward, noting:

“Season two, we’re very grateful to have it… We’re going to make sure those questions get answered — and even more questions are available for you to answer… Make no mistakes, season two is going to be bigger and better.”

Netflix’s VP of Studio Scripted Series (UCAN), Nne Ebong, added her praise for the duo’s work:

“Courtney and Tani have built something truly special with Nemesis — a show that captivated audiences and never let go. Watching the global response has been extraordinary; this series resonated with fans in a way that was electric and far-reaching. Their vision, craft, and passion are unmatched, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this journey with them into Season 2.”

How well did Nemesis perform on Netflix?

As we reported in our Top 10 breakdown, Nemesis had a very solid launch. In its first few days on the platform, the series racked up 7.1 million views globally, instantly shooting into the Top 10 in 83 countries and trailing just behind the returning heavy-hitter Berlin Season 2. It’s clear that the “huge social media response” Kemp highlighted, combined with the strong critical reception (currently sitting pretty at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes), gave Netflix the ammunition they needed to greenlight another batch of episodes.

Another big win for this renewal? Keeping production in LA. The creators previously told us how important it was to employ local crews, especially in the wake of the devastating L.A. fires. Season 2 means hundreds of local crew members will get to return to work to bring this grounded, gritty version of Los Angeles back to our screens.

What to expect from Nemesis Season 2

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 1!

When we last left our opposing forces, the collateral damage was immense. The first season wrapped in a place where a continuation was absolutely necessary—a deliberate choice by Kemp, who previously noted she actively fought against giving the series a neatly tied bow.

In the finale’s bloody shootout in Century City, Stiles made the agonizing choice to save his son, Noah (Cedric Joe), from an Alvarez cartel bullet. That decision allowed Wilder to slip away, parting with the ultimate final blow: “You were never going to win.”

Going into Season 2, Stiles is going to have to face the music. He crossed a major moral line by calling in a favor from the cartel, his badge and gun are gone, and his wife Candace (Gabrielle Dennis) has left him for ADA Malik Jacobs (Jeff Pierre).

Meanwhile, Wilder might have escaped, but his life isn’t exactly intact. In the season finale, his sister-in-law Charlie (Sophina Brown) orchestrated a hospital breakout for his pregnant wife, Ebony (Cleopatra Coleman) while he acted as a decoy. Now separated, Wilder’s primary mission in Season 2 will undoubtedly be tracking down his family while evading the cartel and the remnants of the LAPD.

We can expect the core cast—including Matthew Law, Y’lan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Gabrielle Dennis, Cedric Joe, Sophina Brown, Michael Potts (Sealey), and Jeff Pierre—to reprise their roles as the hunt continues.
