If you loved the hit comedy series Envious (Envidiosa), you’ll be thrilled to hear that Netflix is officially giving the story an Italian makeover! Titled Troppo Invidiosa (which translates to Too Envious), the new comedy series has just wrapped filming and is headed to Netflix globally. Netflix Italy confirmed the news via its WhatsApp Channel and socials late last week.
Here’s your comprehensive guide to everything we know so far about Troppo Invidiosa on Netflix.
Based on the original series Envidiosa (written by Carolina Aguirre and produced by Preludio), this brand-new Italian adaptation is produced by Cattleya (part of ITV Studios) in collaboration with Preludio. The OG Argentinian series has been a big success for Netflix, having been released across four installments, with its final season debuting on Netflix earlier this year.
As we’ve covered in depth, Netflix has increasingly found that comedy series in particular are the best performers in their home country, where humor is often part of the culture and doesn’t always translate. Therefore, most of the time, comedies, particularly international ones, struggle to break out of their home country, so to compensate for this, Netflix has been doing local spin-offs of their biggest IP. Spain’s Alpha Males is the biggest example of this plan in action, with German, Dutch, and French spin-offs all working to various degrees.
What is the plot of Troppo Invidiosa?
The new series will follow a familiar premise for fans of the original show, but with a distinct Italian flair. Here is the official logline provided by Netflix:
“Approaching the age of 40, Vicky is envious of those who seem to already have everything she ever desired. However, an unexpected and decidedly out-of-control journey will lead her through new loves, revelations from the past, and unpredictable encounters.”
Who is in the cast of Troppo Invidiosa?
Leading the series as the famously envious Vicky is Italian actress and television personality Diana Del Bufalo (Che Dio ci aiuti, 7 Women and a Murder).

Netflix has also announced an exceptional supporting cast that will be joining her on this chaotic journey, including:
- Isabella Ferrari (The Great Beauty, Under the Amalfi Sun)
- Lorenzo De Moor (Robbing Mussolini, Brigands: The Quest for Gold)
- Matteo Martari (Four to Dinner, Thou Shalt Not Kill)

Who is behind the series?
The Italian adaptation has been written by a talented team of scribes, with Monica Rametta serving as the head writer. Rametta also penned the scripts for episodes 1, 3, 6, and 8.
Joining her in the writer’s room are Federico Baccomo (who wrote episodes 2, 5, and 7) and Dario Bonamin (who wrote episodes 4 and 6).
The eight-episode first season is split between two directors:
- Milena Cocozza will direct the first half of the season (Episodes 1-4).
- Alessio Lauria will direct the back half of the season (Episodes 5-8).
When will Troppo Invidiosa release on Netflix?
Netflix hasn’t set an exact release date just yet, officially teasing that the series is “coming soon only on Netflix.”
However, the press release confirmed that filming on the comedy has already concluded. Given the timeline, we’d expect to see the series drop on the streaming service either in late 2026 or early 2027. We’ll keep you posted as soon as Netflix drops a trailer or a firm release date!
