Netflix to Add Massive MLB Vault Collection of Classic Games and World Series Films

Just in time for the long Fourth of July weekend, Netflix is stepping up to the plate with a massive collection of archived Major League Baseball content. Set to arrive globally on July 2nd, 2026, the new additions will allow fans to dive into some of baseball’s most iconic moments and historic games.

Netflix has been swinging for the fences with its sports programming lately. We already know the streamer struck a massive deal to broadcast three live MLB games on Netflix from 2026 through 2028. Netflix notably streamed Opening Night Live earlier this year, with Home Run Derby up next later this month.

In anticipation of that live event, Netflix in the US is bolstering its baseball library with an extensive, curated backlog of classic matchups and event films.

Here is a breakdown of the new vault content coming to Netflix on July 2nd with official descriptions from Netflix:

  • HOME RUN DERBY VAULT – Eight powerhouse hitters go head-to-head in a high-stakes showdown in pursuit to be crowned the Home Run Derby champion.
  • WORLD SERIES VAULT – Watch the game’s top teams battle for baseball’s biggest prize and the title of World Series Champions.
  • WORLD SERIES FILM – Relive iconic moments, thrilling heroics and more from the Fall Classic.
  • FIELD OF DREAMS VAULT – Return to the iconic movie set in Dyersville, Iowa where two MLB clubs face off at the Field of Dreams.

A Familiar Playbook for Netflix’s Sports Hub

If the layout and categorization of these new additions look a bit familiar, it’s because Netflix is mirroring how it hosts “vault” content for its other major sporting partner: The WWE.

The setup is remarkably similar to the way the streamer hosts its WWE Vault. As we recently covered, Netflix refreshed its collection of archived WWE titles for 2026, packaging classic premium live events and matches into easily digestible, bingeable “vaults.” By grouping MLB events into specific collections rather than just dumping random games onto the platform, it looks like MLB is getting the exact same curated treatment.

Pivoting from Daily Highlights to Historic Classics?

This heavy archival drop also marks an interesting pivot in Netflix’s overall baseball strategy.

Earlier this year, Netflix experimented with short-form, day-to-day baseball content when it launched an MLB daily highlights hub. However, that specific format didn’t stick around. Netflix quietly removed the “Diamond Daily Highlights” hub after a relatively short test run. Whether these collections are also similar short experiments is unclear.

While the daily recaps might have been quickly benched, the upcoming July 2nd vault drop proves Netflix is fully committed to America’s Pastime.
