Paramount+ and Showtime are hoping to make a killing in this year’s Emmy nominations with Dexter: Resurrection.
The sequel series is submitting 13 actors on the ballot, including leading man Michael C. Hall as charismatic serial killer Dexter Morgan. Hall was nominated five times for this role for the original series in Best Drama Actor (2008-12), plus he received an additional nod in Best Drama Series as a producer (2011). His first career nom was for starring in Six Feet Under (2002).
“It’s nice to be nominated for something,” Hall recently told Gold Derby. “It’s certainly a more pleasant experience to win than not.” He added that potential Emmy love for Dexter: Resurrection, which finds his titular character reuniting with his teenage son, Harrison, in New York City, “would be a recognition that our dice-roll worked.”
Supporting performers up for awards consideration are Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Dominic Fumusa as Det. Melvin Oliva, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, James Remar as Harry Morgan, David Zayas as Angel Batista, Kadia Saraf as Det. Claudette Wallace, and Uma Thurman as Charley.
Finally, the guest stars looking to impress Television Academy members are David Dastmalchian as Gareth, Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell, Eric Stonestreet as Al Walker, and Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre.
The original Dexter, which is based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, received 24 Emmy nominations and won four: Best Drama Guest Actor for John Lithgow, Best Drama Directing for Steve Shill, Best Drama Picture Editing, and Best Main Title Design. Neither of the other two TV spin-offs — sequel Dexter: New Blood (2021) and prequel Dexter: Original Sin (2024) — received any Emmy attention.
