Years after Game of Thrones set an Emmy record with 59 total wins, HBO is now hoping A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be the next Westeros saga to capture voters’ imaginations.
Gold Derby has learned that HBO is submitting 13 cast members from the prequel series at this year’s Emmy Awards. Peter Claffey leads the ensemble as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, a hedge knight who strives to make a name for himself in the upcoming tournament being held in Ashford.
His 11-year-old co-star, Dexter Sol Ansell as Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen, is duking it out in the Best Drama Supporting Actor category alongside the following: Henry Ashton as Prince Daeron “The Drunken” Targaryen; Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen; Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen; Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon; Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar “The Anvil” Targaryen; Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway; Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer; and Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree.
Should Ansell go on to win, he’d set a new Emmy age record, beating then-15-year-old Owen Cooper (Adolescence) by four years.
The two submissions for Best Drama Supporting Actress are Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, and Rowan Robinson as Red. The lone guest star being entered is Jenna Boyd, who plays an innkeeper and fortune teller.
The fan-fave fifth episode, “In the Name of the Mother,” in which Dunk fights for his life in a tournament, contends in multiple fields including directing for Owen Harris and writing for Hiram Martinez, Ti Mikkel, and showrunner Ira Parker. It’s also being pushed for cinematography, music, picture editing, sound, stunts, and visual effects.

Here are all of the categories in which A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is submitting for the 2026 Emmys. Specific episode titles are listed where applicable.
