Mourinho is an upcoming Netflix Original sports documentary centred on the legendary Portuguese coach José Mourinho, directed by Joe Pearlman (Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now) and produced by John Battsek (The Deepest Breath; WHAM!). Mourinho has already been the subject of a documentary when he was featured in the Netflix series The Playbook: A Coach’s Rules for Life.
José Mourinho is one of the world’s top football coaches, and over the past two decades, he has coached some of the world’s biggest teams, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Roma, Benfica, FC Porto, Tottenham Hotspur, and Fenerbahçe.
Across his 26-year career, Mourinho has been a force to be reckoned with. He pulled off a shock in 2004, winning the Champions League with an upset over FC Porto, ending a 50-year wait for a league title with Chelsea, winning a treble with Inter Milan, winning three trophies in a season with Manchester United, and ending Roma’s 14-year trophy drought. Even when Mourinho isn’t winning, his charisma and star power make him the centre of attention, as seen during his trophyless seasons with Tottenham Hotspur and Fenerbahçe.

The documentary will take a deep dive into the life and career of José Mourinho so far, featuring extensive interviews with Mourinho himself, who will “lift the veil on the man behind the special one” persona. The documentary will also include interviews with players he has coached and fellow coaches that he has faced over his career.
The documentary will be released on Netflix sometime in 2026. We expect a full release date to be announced soon.
